On April 2nd 2016, at the EXPO City Osaka complex, in a special ceremony, April 4th was officially announced and given certificate for annual recognition as the Day of Vietnamese "Pho" in Japan.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Duc Binh, Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka; Mr. Muraoka Hiroshi, President of Acecook; Mr. Kase Kiyoshi, Chairman of the Association of Japanese Anniversaries; Miss Ayaka Miyoshi, a famous actress and numerous Japanese people.
In the opening remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Duc Binh, Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka appreciated the recognition of April 4th as the Day of Vietnamese "Pho", in honor of the famous traditional dish of Viet Nam. He also expressed his belief that the Day of "Pho" will introduce traditional "Pho" of Viet Nam to every Japanese citizen and contribute to the development of the delicacy of the gastronomical culture of Japan. He hoped that the event would give Japanese better understanding of Vietnamese culture and bring Viet Nam closer to Japanese people.
After the certificate-giving ceremony, Mr. Hiroshi Muraoka, President of Acecook said that Acecook began to introduce the instant noodle of "Pho" at convenience stores in Japan. All ingredients of "Pho" instant noodle are made from Vietnamese rice to create the authentic taste of this delicate food. The broth of the "Pho" instant noodle was studied, tested and produced based on the taste of famous "Pho" restaurants in Viet Nam to create goluptious Pho products for Japanese people.
It is the first time "Pho" – the traditional and world-famous food of Viet Nam is given a special anniversary. The April 4th was chosen because number 4 was pronounced similarly to "Pho", that makes it easy to remember.
The ceremony took place during the weekend, when the cherry blossoms bloomed; attracting special attention of tens of thousands of people in Osaka and neighbouring cities. Vietnamese students and people living in Kansai region also attended the event./.
