Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Quang Tung worked with the delegation of US- ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC)

On 15^th January 2020, on the sideline of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2020 held in Brunei Darussalam, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Quang Tung met with the delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) headed by Mr. Michael Michalak, former United States Ambassador to Viet Nam, Senior Vice Chairman and CEO of the Council. Participating the delegation are representatives of some major US travel and technology groups such as Expedia, Airbnb, Agoda, Mariott International and SAP .

At the meeting, the two sides mentioned and exchanged many important contents such as the application of science and technology, digital transformation in the tourism industry, major guidelines, orientations and policies on tourism development in Viet Nam, including policies on tourism investment, promotion, travel and visa facilitation, policies to assist tourists and develop tourism human resources, support and develop small and medium businesses...

Deputy Minister Le Quang Tung affirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism paid attention to supporting and promoting the development of Viet Nam's tourism industry in the near future through completing and submitting to the Government for approving major guidelines and policies, in which the most recent one is Project on application of information technology in the field of tourism in the period of 2018-2020, with orientation to 2025, with priorities on applying digital technology to support tourists, develop smart travel destinations, support tourism businesses to start their businesses on the basis of science and technology, digital technology, smart tourism, building data integration systems for the tourism industry... In addition, Viet Nam's tourism industry is submitting to the Government for consideration and soon promulgating the Viet Nam Tourism Development Strategy for the period of 2020-2030, with major orientations and policies on investment attraction, promotion, facilitation of travel and visas, and policies to support tourists and development of tourism human resources, supporting and developing small and medium enterprises... 

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quang Tung emphasized that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam, the tourism industry of Viet Nam wants the US-ASEAN Business Council, major US tourism and technology companies to continue to pay attention to and support the development of Viet Nam's tourism, promoting specific cooperation results with Vietnamese tourism businesses, and supports start-ups and small and medium-sized tourism enterprises of Viet Nam, participating in policy recommendations for the tourism management state agency in Viet Nam in the near future.
