On 29 November 2019, the Awarding ceremony of the medal “For the cause of culture, sports and tourism” to H.E. Mr. Jorge Rondón Uzcátegui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bolivariana Venezuela to Viet Nam, Head of the Diplomatic Corps took place solemnly and cozy at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. H.E. Mr. Ta Quang Dong – Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism chaired the ceremony with the presence of Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Hoa – Director General of International Cooperation Department, Mr. Le Ngoc Trung – Deputy Director of Competition Emulation and Commendation Department, Ms. Cora Fernandez – Counselor and officials, staffs of the Ministry and the Embassy, and the press attended the event.
For nearly 14 years, the Ambassador has continuously made efforts to promote cooperation between Viet Nam and Venezuela in many fields including politics, diplomatic, culture, sports and tourism, commerce and economics, developing, educating and exchanging people, actively contributing to the development of friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, enhancing exchanges and understanding between the two nations and people, accounting for nearly half of the time the two countries established diplomatic relations (December 18, 1989 – December 18, 2019).
The Ambassador always strives his best to successfully promote the signing of many cooperation documents between the two countries, including the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation, the Cultural Exchange program cooperation between the two countries, in collaboration with the Ministry of Literature. Chemistry, Sports and Tourism in organizing cultural exchange events such as photo exhibitions, handicrafts, exchanges to introduce folk and music culture in Vietnam and Venezuela, weeks festivals, Latin American film festivals, etc. These activities have made a mark in the presence of Venezuela in Vietnam as well as Vietnam in Venezuela, helping people better understand the country, people and culture of the two countries.
Sharing at the ceremony, Ambassador Jorge Rondón Uzcátegui was honored to receive the Medal “For the cause of culture, sports and tourism” from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Ambassador shared that no matter what position, the Ambassador will still try his best for the cause of preserving and developing the national cultural identities of the two countries and there is a project that will be implemented soon. He expects to cooperate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to publish a bilingual translation book on the memoirs of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Binh, Former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The Ambassador also expected to soon organize a football exchange between the national football teams of the two countries. The Ambassador also shared Vietnamese efforts to promote Ha Long Bay to become a natural wonder of the world in the previous years and hopes to cooperate with Viet Nam in promoting Vietnamese tourism in the future. Although Venezuela has won many Miss World and Miss Universe contests, Venezuela itself has not organized such a contest as Viet Nam.
Congratulations to Ambassador Jorge Rondón Uzcátegui on receiving the Medal “For the cause of culture, sports and tourism”, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong noted that for nearly 14 years, the Ambassador has contributed greatly in promoting relations between the two countries. In addition, besides being the Head of the Diplomatic Mission to promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture, sports and tourism, the Deputy Minister hoped that no matter what position the Ambassador later was, the Ambassador continued to be the connecting person to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries and to be the friendliest and closest friend of Vietnamese people.
Ambassador Jorge Rondón Uzcátegui thanked the attention of the Vietnamese Government, especially the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and looked forward to continuing the plan to implement cooperation in translation and publication of cultural publications and literature with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from January 2020.
