On the occasion of the Vietnam Cultural Days in Austria in celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Mr. Le Khanh Hai held a meeting with the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy on July 3rd 2017 to discuss policies and models for tourism development as well as cooperation possibilities.
Being a country with tourism advantages, receiving 141 million overnights and 41.5 million international tourist arrivals, tourism sector has accounted for more than 8% of Austrian GDP. Mrs. Angelika Liedler-Janoschik, on behalf of the Federal Ministry, expressed the willingness for cooperation in tourism sector with Vietnam, with priority in human resources training. In the mean time, through Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, the two sides will identify prioritized issues to organize specific seminars in 2018. One of the topics that Austria has a lot of strengths is the linkage between cultural heritage preservation and responsible tourism development.
