The workshop “Copyright and Related Rights in the Digital Environment” was held at Nikko Hotel, Hanoi on November 2th, 2018. This event was co-organized by the International Cooperation Department and the Copyright Office of Viet Nam (MOCST) in cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam. The workshop attracted more than 90 attendees from copyright and related rights management and enforcement agencies; representatives of CMOs in Vietnam; individuals who exploit and use works in the digital media; staff and presenters from COV, Institute for Policy Research and Media Development (IPS), Vietnam Digital Communication Association, Vietnam Television, copyright and related rights law offices and Vietnamese press agencies. In particular, the workshop was attended by two experts from Denmark and one expert from the Korean Copyright Commission.
The workshop “Copyright and Related Rights in the Digital Environment” was organized in order to raise awareness and consciousness of legal provisions abiding on the protection of copyright and related rights, especially to improve the effectiveness of anti copyright infringement activities in the digital environment in Vietnam.
At the workshop, attendees listened and discussed legal provisions, management, enforcement and curent situation of copyright and related rights protection in Vietnam; Challenges in the protection of copyright and related rights in the digital environment and the experience of Denmark and Korea in this regard; The status of exploitation and usage of copyright and related rights property in the digital environment and solutions to enhance the protection of copyright and related rights in order to meet the requirements of implementation in the digital environment. In addition, delegates shared their experiences with experts to make recommendations on mechanisms, policies and law improvement, thereby contributing to effective law enforcement of copyright and related rights in the coming time.
